Is this a 'sports' photo?

I was covering a sporting competition at the weekend and by chance caught this moment of one of the competitors who had been knocked out of the competition.

There was no posing or communication involved, I just turned around from the action that was going on saw the moment and click.

Does this make it a 'sports' photo?  If not, why not - and what does make a 'sports' photo?

Sheffield Sharks continue their winning run against Bristol Flyers

Since an opening day defeat to Surrey Scorchers, Sheffield Sharks have gone on a 4 game winning run - the latest being a 86-70 win over Bristol Flyers at the EIS, Sheffield.  After a quiet start by the Sharks they killed the second quarter (36-19) and then ket the advantage all the way to the end.

Sheffield Sharks narrowly miss out to Surrey in the first game of the 2017-18 season

A sometome bruising 8-a-side encounter at the EIS on Friday night left Sheffield Sharks 78-81 down to Surrey Scorchers in the opening game of the season.  Tieing at 42 a piece at halftime, Surrey pulled away by 10 in the third quarter and the Sharks pulled it back but too little too late...

MVP Chris Alexander shooting a free throw from a Technical.  He hit some outrageous three point scores from serious distance on his way to 22 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Ironically, in fighting for points at the end of the game, he himself suffered two technicals to sit out the end of the contest.

Sheffield Sharks make their mark at the inagural All Stars Basketball tournament

The O2 in London was the setting today for the first All Stars Basketball tournament - a quickfire series of games between the top 8 BBL teams with the winner earning £25,000.

Shot of the day was a 5-point (yes, you read that right) buzzer beater by Mackey McKnight which sent the crowd on to its feet.

Friday night at the EIS, Sheffield and the new-look Sheffield Sharks took on Manchester Giants in a pre-season friendly.  Sharks ran out 111-81 winners in a contest which only looked to have one winner from the get-go.

Everyone got good game time and the team tried out some play variations.
